Revised Dinner Plain Masterplan – 2008

The Dinner Plain Masterplan provides the foundation for achieving the Vision for Dinner Plain through guiding development and prioritising the implementation of infrastructure to support the growing capacity of the village.

The rapid development of Dinner Plain over the past twenty years has demanded a strategic approach to managing growth. Consequently the Alpine Shire developed a Masterplan for Dinner Plain in 2002 to assist the decisions making relevant to development.

Recent rapid growth of the village required a review of the Masterplan to ensure the key goals, objectives and actions were aligned with current issues and opportunities. A comprehensive review of the Dinner Plain Masterplan was commenced in June 2006 including comprehensive research, consultation and exploration of opportunities.

The revised Dinner Plain Masterplan, March 2008 provides the strategies and actions necessary to achieve the Vision for Dinner Plain as an accessible, unique alpine village.

Key changes to the Dinner Plain Masterplan include:

• The incorporation of Ecologically Sustainable Development Principals in to the development controls.
• Potential for Rural Living type development on Lots 1, 2 and 3, Dinner Plain, subject to conservation of identified areas of environmental significance and relocation of the wastewater treatment system.

The Masterplan will be incorporated in to the Alpine Planning Scheme via a formal amendment process commenced mid 2008.

The Dinner Plain Strategic Framework Plan provides an all encompassing framework for the conservation of the unique environmental and social qualities, growth in tourism and economic prosperity and the implementation of infrastructure required to meet the needs of current and future ratepayers and visitors at Dinner Plain.

It is an aspirational document considering the needs of the Dinner Plain community in both the current and forecast environmental, economic and social climates.

The Strategic Plan will be reviewed annually to ensure it is aligned with the goals and aspirations of the community; and the achievement of the actions will be reported on twice yearly by Council officers at nominated Dinner Plain Management Committee meetings.
