The
Alpine High Country was originally opened up by the mountain cattlemen
bringing their cattle up for grazing every summer. To shelter many
built huts which have been supplemented since by groups as diverse
as the PMG (now Telstra), CRB (Now VicRoads) through to recluses
just wanting to escape he world.
Many of these huts have significant historic value,
and Dinner Plain makes a great base for exploring some of these
huts.
