August 2008 - Pub to Pub Cross Country Ski Race

You don't need to be an expert, just have an expert sense of fun. Being moderately fit and having a basic idea of cross country ski technique probably helps. Starts at 'The General' at Mt Hotham and finishes at the Dinner Plain Hotel.

August 9th-10th 2008 - Advance Sled Dog Challenge

Dinner Plain Village is proud to be home to the only Sled Dog race in Australia held in the snow. With most alpine resorts being on Crown Land in the midst of National Park, Dinner Plain's freehold ownership provides a unique location for this annual event. Sponsored by Advance Pet Foods, approximately 95 teams from all over Australia, incorporating over 300 dogs of all sizes and descriptions, such as Malamutes and Samoyeds, are expected to compete on a specially designed eight to ten kilometer track around the village.

September 19th-22nd 2008 - Alpine 4x4 Challenge

Dinner Plain, will again host the Alpine 4x4 Challenge, a winter 4x4 team-based event where highly modified four wheel drive vehicles compete over four days in the rugged Victorian HIgh Country. The event is unique to Australia and being so close to Melbourne is already popular with four wheel drive enthusiasts.
Watch Australia’s best four wheel drivers tackle vertical ascents, crawl down steep inclines and of course make their way through bottomless bog holes.

Easter Sunday 2009 - Geebung Polo Match

In the front paddock of Victoria's largest cattle station and only kilometres from Dinner Plain, a colouful exhibition of horsemanship versus poloskills takes place as the High Country cattlemen of the Geebung Team take on the city slicker Cuff 'n' Collar team. Just what happens on this day depends on how the announcer recites the Banjo Patterson poem after which the event is named. Lots of support events and happenings to keep the whole family entertained.
